Was at Cat's BBQ party and promised to upload music in return for food and Gen agreeing to be my model. (Cat's brother and his friends were trying to act all cool and nonchalant about the fact that they were in the same room with The Maxim Cover Girl aka The Girl Now Featured in FHM. They held as long as they could and then broke down asking to take photos with her to upload onto their blogs and gottknowswhatelse. It was amusing to say the least. I spent much time trying not to laugh into my cup of red wine.)
So. Music as promised.
Didn't know who this Monsieur Gainsbourg was but know enough that Franz Ferdinand collaborated with a certain Jane Birkin on the album. It turns out Monsieur Gainsbourg was French, an enfant terrible and a writer of rather interesting lyrics. Am still reading up on the man, but in the meantime, here are some covers of his music. With lyrics translated from their original French to English.
Trying out a new format for posting.
Franz Ferdinand & Jane Birkin "A Song For Sorry Angel (Sorry Angel") - I'll admit I don't like the FF cover. Their sound doesn't fit the album. I suspect it's the twangy guitars and hipster vibes. But it's here for people to decide for themselves.
Faultline, Brian Molko & Françoise Hardy "Requiem For A Jerk (Requiem Pour Un Con)" - Brian Molko appears on the album twice, once as himself and the other as Placebo. This song isn't so much a song as it doesn't sound like it has a melody but more of beats/noises coming in together to form something that resembles one. Think STOMP. The lyrics are also awesome. I am getting sentimental but it's too much work/ What's a requiem to a jerk?
Marc Almond & Trash Palace "Boy Toy (I'M The Boy)" - Ah. Marc Almond. He never disappoints. Everything of his on my HD has been good. This one is no exception. Also. Note the Ghei Buttsex connection. It comes with pounding beats too. XD
The Kills "I Call It Art (La Chanson De Slogan)" - The male vocals shadow the female's, sounding like a whispery instrument instead of proper vocals. I like it. That's all.
Here be music that I like or think the two would like or they commented they found agreeable when I was playing them on my laptop. No comments, just music gambles.
Party Ben - Somebody Kill Me (Adamski vs. Killers vs. Baseme)
team9 vs clash vs hard fi - clash machine
The Divine Comedy - Death of a Supernaturalist
I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness - When You Go Out
Paul Oakenfold Feat Brittany Murphy - Faster Kill Pussy Cat (Club Mix)
Paul Oakenfold - Faster Kill Pussy Cat (Roman Hunter Mix)
Brittany Murphy - Faster Kill Pussy Cat (Hip Hop Remix)
Tiga - Far From Home (DFA Remix)
Jeff Buckley - New Year's Prayer (Remix)
That's it.
