Can't read pron at the moment since there's a student sitting behind me. A little scribbling then.

Am hiding in a little hole at biz now. More like foxhole more than anything, I have the strange urge to belt out Belle & Sebastian's "I Fought In A War" except it would be grossly inappropriate for far too many reasons (namely, the war ain't over, honey).

The thing about the Arts Central Library is that it's more like the Arts canteen a circus than anything. It's all bit like that old ditty. You know, the one where the boys watch the girls watch the boys watching the girls go by. But at the CL, we have people appearing to be studying while checking out others from the corners of their eyes. Not that no studying is being done (it's NUS after all), but seriously. There should be a study done on this, yo.

Also have no idea why people are surprised Papa Gov is actually going ahead with the casino building. After all, the Papa Gov is notorious for giving public opinions the bird. If it's brought up in Parliament, its going to get done the Papa Gov way, to hell with the "debate". Ask any Pol. Sci. student in NUS if you don't believe me. You've got to hand it to them though. Mutter something about "jobs" and the screaming and ranting is turned down one notch. Not opposed nor supportive of the whole thing myself. The one thing that gets to me is the usual second-class treatment of nationals again.

a) Casino entry levy on all Citizens and Permanent Residents
A levy of $100 per day or $2,000 a year for membership will be imposed on all citizens and permanent residents.

The entry levies collected will be channeled to the Singapore Totalisator Board for charitable and worthy causes.

Hn. Charitable and worthy causes huh? How much? What percentage? Do you smell BS in the air?

And if you don't know about Chia Teck Leng, you should. The Chinese papers mentioned that the only difference between him and the Ah Beng The Gambler from Geylang is that Papa Gov doesn't give a shit to what Ah Beng says, but will call Chia an "advisor".

Am duly amused.

PS: Don't know much about the new Pope, but...er.
